About Us

Spokane Professional Doula Association is an inclusive organization that works to make doula care more accessible in Eastern Washington and North Idaho through advocacy and education. We maintain high standards and ethics within our profession and support doulas by providing mentorship, continuing education, professional development and peer network.

We believe that everyone has the right to non-judgmental culturally-competent support for pregnancy, birth, postpartum and other reproductive experiences and outcomes. We are committed to elevating the voices of indigenous, black, people of color, disabled and LGBTQ+ birth professionals and birthing people.

Why should you choose a SPDA doula?

You can feel confident in choosing a certified doula who will handle your needs in a professional, responsible, and ethical manner. SPDA doulas adhere to a scope of practice and code of ethics that ensures you can trust the support you are given. Our doulas receive mentorship, continuing education, professional support, and shared community resources through our organization.  Varying in backgrounds, training, and experience levels, you are sure to find the perfect doula for your support team. Our doulas share the same mission in caring for families regardless of the individual choices you make, the type of support you need, or the parenting philosophy you adopt.  Our only goal is to support you in a way that leaves you feeling cared for, validated, and confident in the decisions you make.
